A one-on-one conversation at The Arise Society

What parents ask us

Support at Arise is personal. These answers cover common questions, and our team can help you understand what the program could look like for your family.

Care and connection

Is The Arise Society licensed?

Yes. The Arise Society is licensed as an intensive outpatient program and is audited annually.

How do you motivate my young adult?

Our relationship-based approach uses connection, clinical experience, and practical guidance to help young adults find their own reasons to engage and make progress. Parents are often part of that work, too.

What is the goal of therapy in the program?

Therapy helps your young adult understand and work through problems that can get in the way of healthy relationships and productivity. The goal is to build insight and skills they can use in everyday life.

Life and progress

What does a day at Arise look like?

Each student’s day reflects their individual plan. Students get ready for school, work, or both, and connect with therapists, mentors, and the Productivity Coordinator for the support they need. They may also attend group therapy, join a club, spend time with friends, or take some downtime.

Evenings may include a program activity, one-on-one mentor time, homework, games, or dating. Daily life also includes cooking, meal preparation, grocery shopping, laundry, and appointments as students practice living more independently.

How much contact will I have with the program?

Parents receive weekly updates. Each family also has a designated Parent Coordinator with expertise in parent coaching who can answer questions and help address concerns.

How long can students stay?

Families typically plan for about a year of full support. Many alumni stay connected with the Arise community for years afterward.

Education, visits, and home

What education and work resources are available?

Our full-time Productivity Coordinator helps students work toward school and employment goals, with connections at Utah Valley University (UVU) and nearby employers. Some students also pursue technical training at Mountainland Technical College (MTECH).

How often can we visit?

We encourage regular contact between parents and their young adult, whether families visit Arise or students visit home. Families and the program work together to plan visits around each student’s needs and schedule.

What is the living situation?

Students typically share a two-bedroom apartment near campus with one other student. Each student has their own bedroom and bathroom. Apartments include major appliances, a washer and dryer, and garbage valet service.
