Joey Sandberg

Joey Sandberg

Mentor

Joey has been with Arise since October of 2021. He brings a wide variety of experiences to the table that have helped him develop into the person he is today.

Joey grew up in St George, the youngest in his family. He spent his Junior year of high school in Spain on a foreign exchange. Upon returning, he graduated from high school with college credit and quickly completed his Associates Degree at Dixie State University.

Joey has seen the world through a variety of lenses including his time spent in Spain, Brazil and Sweden,  which explains how he is quadrilingual.

Joey has always loved working with a variety of individuals and most of his career has been spent working with kids. This includes his first job, being a nanny after graduation, teaching children at Bare Foot Montessori Preschool and working with autistic children. These experiences have equipped him to work with a variety of individuals with complex needs.

Arise has brought Joey the wonderful opportunity to start working with adults and expand the amount of people that he can help. He has loved his time at Arise and loves learning new things everyday.

Joey is passionate about helping individuals learn to advocate for themselves and find their voice. This includes involving the individual in their treatment plan by learning about their interests and what motivates them and then helping them take action to reach their goals.

He finds joy in creating healthy and safe environments for growth that surround the people in it in an atmosphere of love and compassion. He aspires to make a difference in his community, however big or small.

In his spare time, Joey enjoys singing, cooking, running, hiking, yoga, and traveling. He has also recently gotten back into piano, the process of which has inspired him to help his students find and develop their own hobbies. Joey brings an array of experience, skills and variety to the Arise team.
