Program Director

Sydney was born in Fort Collins, Colorado. From all the wonderful activities someone could choose from in Colorado Sydney chose sports. She developed a passion for any sport she could play and truly fell in love with how physical activity affected her health and life. After playing soccer for 12 years she moved to play volleyball in high school. She fell in love with the cohesion and teamwork that was found in volleyball and continues to pursue it today. After high school Sydney went to Brigham Young University-Idaho. She made great friendships in Idaho and also developed a strong passionate and curiosity for the world of Psychology.

Sydney decided to move to magnificent Utah after leaving Idaho to attend Utah Valley University (UVU) to further pursue a degree in Psychology. While learning more in her degree, the science behind addiction triggered her curiosity and inspired her to learn more. After recognizing the intense need for more representation in addiction Sydney enrolled in the Substance Use Disorder Counseling Program. There she found ways to help people work through resistance within themselves and help discover their identities and goals in life. Sydney graduated from UVU with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a certificate in Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counseling. She continues to pursue her education by exploring her options for a Master’s degree in the future.

Since moving to Utah Sydney has fallen in love with even more physical activities such as rock climbing, competitive running, and pickelball. She enjoys spending quality time with her husband, Dalyn, and beautiful dog, Scooby, either going on a hike or curling up and watching a good movie. Since working at Arise she has learned the value of healthy relationships and the positive impact people can have on her. She continues to be curious in every situation and enjoys exploring every facet of life with the students.
